Halogen Fixtures include under cabinet fixtures and puck lighting. Halogen is a gas-filled bulb with a filament inside that has a very clear white, brilliant white light. Halogen has been available for the last 20 years and has uses for retail, home and business applications. One main advantage to Halogen is that the light is easily dimmed with standard dimmers readily available and that by dimming Halogen lights, the energy savings and lamp life can double or even triple!
Some Halogen fixtures use 120-volt lamps and some use 12-volt. Those that operate with 120-volt input have a lower cost than those that use 12-volt because the transformer is no longer needed. Our customers like the 120-volt Halogen Under Cabinet Light and 120-volt Halogen Pucks Lights because they are dimmable and have a great color of white light that shows true colors. For task areas such as kitchen counters, size the Halogen Under Cabinet Lights for the size of the cabinet and supply one fixture for each cabinet. 120-volt Halogen Puck Lights are popular for use inside glass-doored cabinets and can be used for task lighting, but the best task lighting is achieved by using the under cabinet fixtures that spread the light more evenly over the work surface, rather than the pucks which create “circles” of light.
12-volt Halogen puck lights require a transformer and are wired differently than 120-volt versions. Both 12-volt and 120-volt Halogen cabinet lights emit a nice white color temperature (3000°K) that shows as white light, and both 12-volt and 120-volt Halogen cabinet lights have a rated life of 1,500 hours. All Halogen fixtures have a color rendering index of 100, which means colors will show accurately.
